Information we collect
We collect information you provide directly and limited information created as you use the service:
- Account information: your email address, password hash, verification status, and account creation date.
- Google sign-in information: if you choose Google sign-in, your verified email address and a unique Google account identifier.
- Account activity: brands or items you save, your preferences, and recently viewed entries while signed in.
- Messages: feedback, brand suggestions, reports of outdated information, and an optional contact email.
- Technical information: essential session and security information needed to keep the website working and protect accounts.
Please do not include sensitive personal information in feedback or other free-text fields.
How and why we use information
We use personal information to:
- create, secure, and manage your account;
- provide saved entries, preferences, recent views, and personalised recommendations;
- verify email addresses and send password-reset or other essential service messages;
- review and respond to feedback or reports;
- maintain, troubleshoot, protect, and improve the service; and
- comply with legal obligations and establish or defend legal claims.
Under UK data protection law, we rely on performance of our contract with you where information is needed to provide an account or requested feature, our legitimate interests in operating and improving the service, compliance with legal obligations, and your consent where the law requires it.
Cookies and third-party services
We use an essential session cookie to keep the website secure, remember sign-in state, and support account features. It is not used for advertising.
Our pages load fonts from Google Fonts and a flag-icon stylesheet from jsDelivr. When your browser requests these resources, those providers may receive technical information such as your IP address and browser details under their own privacy policies. If you choose Google sign-in, Google also processes information needed to complete that request.
We do not currently use advertising or analytics cookies. If this changes, we will update this policy and provide any consent controls required by law.
Sharing information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share it with service providers that help us host, secure, maintain, or deliver the website and its emails, but only where necessary and subject to appropriate protections. We may also disclose information where required by law, to protect rights or safety, or as part of a business reorganisation.
The website links to brands, stores, and other third-party sites. Those sites control their own data practices, and their privacy policies apply when you visit them.
International transfers
Some service providers, including Google and jsDelivr, may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where UK data protection law requires it, we use or rely on appropriate safeguards for those transfers.
How long we keep information
We keep account information and account activity while your account remains active. Security and verification tokens expire after a limited period. Feedback is kept for as long as reasonably needed to review it, respond, maintain an accurate record, or meet legal obligations. We may retain limited information longer where required by law or necessary to establish or defend legal claims.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, UK data protection law may give you the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to the use of your personal information, and to receive a portable copy of certain information. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time.
To exercise a right or ask us to close your account, email hello@getqualitystuff.com. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.
You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, although we would appreciate the chance to address your concern first.
Children
Get Quality Stuff is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
Security and changes to this policy
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information. No online service can guarantee absolute security.
We may update this policy as the service or law changes. We will post the updated version here and change the date above. Where appropriate, we will provide additional notice.
